The only caisson (spark plug) style lighthouse in the USA that visitors can walk to. It is located at the end of a 900-foot breakwater on Portland Harbor next to Southern Maine Community College. It was built in 1897 and has been open to the public since 1999. Parking is available near Fort Preble at 43.650067, -70.227267
