The tower was completed in 1791 and is the oldest lighthouse in Maine. It is owned by the town of Cape Elizabeth and open to the public. The former Keepers' Quarters is now a museum, and there is a seasonal gift shop. There is a small fee to enter the museum. Starting in 2019 metered (pay and display) parking is charged at $2/hour or $10 per day 8am to 5pm (credit card only).
