The lighthouse is located at the end of a nearly mile long breakwater in Rockland Harbor which can be walked to by the public. It is owned by the City of Rockland and leased to the American Lighthouse Foundation. Give yourself 2 hours for the walk to and from the lighthouse. Okay for children but beware of large gaps in the rocks. There is a small parking area at the end of Samoset Road.
