Outback is a typical casual dining chain, though the food is better than most chains. I've eaten here many times. The food is good, but tends to be too salty and sometimes a little bit spicy. As with many chains the quality can vary from visit to visit. I would recommend Outback as a step up from the 99 Restaurant, Applebees, or TGI Fridays.

I had seen advertisements on TV for a filet mignon and lobster tail combination special. I was looking forward to this. When I searched the menus I could not find it. I asked the waitress and she said they don't have that special in Massachusetts. Why? She said by Massachusetts law they are not allowed to serve lobster tail, only whole lobsters. What kind of stupid law is this? I know I've had lobster tail in Massachusetts, at least at Chinese restaurants.

OK, so I decided to get my usual favorite Outback Steakhouse entrée... the Prime Rib. The beef here is usually pretty good. I ordered mine medium-rare. I started eating it. It tasted good, but I quickly noticed that it was very chewy and not up to the usual Outback Steakhouse quality. I mentioned this to the waitress. Soon the manager came over and offered to replace my Prime Rib with another, so I said yes. He brought me a second one. It was basically the same as the first, but I told him it was better because I thought it would be ridiculous to get a third that probably wouldn't be any improvement. My friend got an unusually large cut of Prime Rib (he likes to overdo things). He said his was ok.

Well, I wasn't too happy with my meal this night, but the service was very good.
