Paved path along the Connecticut River that runs from the Chicopee town line to the South End Bridge in Springfield and passes behind the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Note that the walkway dead ends behind the automobile dealership before the South End Bridge. Parking and trail access is available at North Riverfront Park (121 West Street) and at the Basketball Hall of Fame (1000 Hall Fame Avenue). This walkway passes through inner urban areas where encounters with criminals and homeless people is possible. Safety may be a concern to visitors. At times bad odors from the sewage treatment plant across the river may blow over the area. This walkway was supposed to connect to the Agawam section, but was never completed.
